Job Summary: We are looking for a Cargo Assistant to join our team and help us manage the transportation of goods. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that cargo is loaded and unloaded safely, efficiently, and in accordance with company policies. They will also be responsible for tracking shipments, preparing documents, and providing customer service. The ideal candidate should have excellent organizational skills, strong communication abilities, and a good understanding of the transportation industry.
Responsibilities: • Load and unload cargo from trucks, ships, trains, or other vehicles according to company policies. • Track shipments using computer systems or other tracking methods. • Prepare documents such as bills of lading or shipping manifests. • Ensure that cargo is properly secured in the vehicle before transport. • Inspect cargo for damage or defects prior to loading or unloading. • Communicate with customers regarding shipment status or any other inquiries they may have. • Maintain records of all shipments including weight, volume, destination, etc. • Follow safety protocols when handling hazardous materials or dangerous goods. • Monitor inventory levels and order supplies as needed. • Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications: • High school diploma or equivalent required; college degree preferred • Previous experience in the transportation industry preferred • Knowledge of shipping regulations and safety protocols • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail • Ability to lift heavy objects up to 50 lbs • Strong communication skills both verbal and written
